Benefits of Membership

HAPN is a unique organization, representing the professional interests of all registered nurses in Hawaii'i.  We are a 501(c)6 tax-exempt Business League, and as such we are entitled to lobby in the Legislature.  This gives us a particular standing in the nursing community, as well as in the health care policy arena, in which we can make a difference in the education and practice of nursing and the state of the art of health care delivery.

We offer opportunities for collegial networking with a number of nursing organizations.  For example, we are a group member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  We have ongoing relationships with the local chapters of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners local chapter,  and the Hawai'i State Board of Nursing, to name a few.

Working in our committees gives one a chance to hone expert organizational skills and to develop new ones under the mentorship of other members.

We are an infant organization with all the opportunities to contribute to the growth of this group with tremendous potentials for the advancement of nursing in the State of Hawai'i and access to care for the health care consumers of our State.
